It has always been the case. Even back when websites couldn’t talk back, a vibrant website was an updated website. Lots of page views baby! With the emergence of the now passé term “Web2.0”, the same rings true today - content will always kick ass!
So who provides content for many of the social community's in business? That is the golden question that seems to get passed around the office. Who will driv ...

What is a Blog?

When you are a trailblazer in a new industry (Social Communities) you generally find yourself dipping your toes outside of your comfort zone! “New” means "different" and for most of my fellow humans “different" is not fun”. Generally speaking we are creatures of habit. Same coffee shop, same soap and if you are like me you have different jackets for different weather. Then when you are taken out of your comfort zone you become grumpy and out of place! I wil ...

As a Community Consultant for Mzinga, I spend time with my clients talking about the different roles they will need to take in order to have a successful community. I also spend time talking about the roles of the community members. I talk about gardners, the ones who want to keep things in order; the evangelists, contributing the most content, trying to keep others engaged; the lurkers, they are looking rather than contributing -- we nurture these folks. They are either listening to ...

I am always looking for cool new ways people think about community and how to use Web 2.0 to improve communications and personal interactions. YourStreet is a notable example of how to use Web 2.0 tools to create value.
It is such a simple concept. Take the original community idea, our neighborhood, and bring it online. It brings local mapping, news and blogs together with conversations to create new forms of interaction using the original community.

I read this blog post today on Read/WriteWeb titled Will Podcasting Survive? While I agree with any of Alex's points that it has competition from other media platforms, and has limited use, I think there is some real value to podcasting.
It is very likely that podcasting has a niche market. Are teens and tweens going to tune-in en-mass to a podcast? Not likely, no. With any new technology, or use of technology, the best way to determine where it fits in is to test it against m ...
