It is actually called Analyst Space for Exploration (A-SpaceX), but I-Second Life, Intelligence Life, or Second Intel Life would be easier to understand.
SL is popular for both creating 3D content and for chumming around with virtual friends. The Intelligence community can make good use of both of these. A 3D space is a natural space in which to combine and manage information. But given a number of different sources of info, what is the best spatial tool for organizing it? Sticking photos on one wall, movies on another, maps, on a 3rd, and text documents on the coffee table is a start. But is it possible to design a space based on the nature of the information to be conveyed? The office metaphor might be all wrong for intel data. Something like a forest with similar info clustered as matching trees, or an ocean with the fish schooling and static data in the coral, or an ant colony that is centered on the queen - each of these might be better metaphors. Is there a community who understands the relationship between information and presentation? My experience is with groups that translate everything into a 3D battlespace and 2D maps.
