I'm little confused, my expectations were to find an open wiki project with collaborations on "we are smarter the me", but where's the book? |

| Gregorious -- great question. Because the first book has gone to print, we've shut off access to the first book wiki. There is spillover content from that book that we plan to make available soon but it will require a little work on our part first. The second book has subsequently kicked off and the way we're starting that book is by collecting case studies through these very discussion forums. |

Hello Astrout
Does this mean that the book won't be freely available as a digital resource?
Thanks for clarification

| Andreas, unfortunately, the book won't be available as a digital resource (at least not out of the gate). We are planning on making the spillover content from the book available soon. We're also in the process of writing the next book and that content will be available online until the publishing of the next book. |

Hello Astrout
I assumed something like that.
Excuse my criticism, but “We are smarter than me” somehow gets the meaning like “we” the publishers are smarter than “me” the contributor.
Somehow your project positions itself somewhere between open source, wikipedia and the social web – at least in the way you promote it. But taking by the end the knowledge out of the public domain to make it only available against $ follows slightly a different approach.
I have nothing against pure for profit business models, but something against being not transparent and clear in the way of promoting a product.
It might be only my impression, so as said excuse my criticism.
Best Andreas

Andreas,
You pose a very important question/challenge to the project. To that end, we take your question/challenge so seriously that we are meeting with the founders of the project (including the publisher, Pearson) to discuss the best way to address your concern. After that meeting, I will post high level notes back in this forum.
Thanks for pushing us.
Best, Aaron (astrout) |

Andreas -- you spoke and we listened. I met with the founders of the project (including the publisher, Pearson) and we agreed that we don't want to be perceived as digital sharecroppers. Here is the link to the wiki: http://wearesmarter.org/communitytoolsold/BookOneWiki/tabid/78/Default.aspx You can also find that link on the home page and the top right corner of the book page. Enjoy! |

Hello Aaron
Firstly, excuse the late response. Secondly, and much more relevant: Thanks, in my name, in the name of all of the contributors, and in the name of everyone that likes to benefit from this created knowledge and might even feels like contributing to it further. Finally, I hope that this model of free web based access and for profit printed versions will work out as well as it did for “The cathedral and the bazaar”. It would be great to have one further well known example in this area.
Best Andreas
