Depending on community feedback to my post in the thread about Conventions (http://www.wearesmarter.org/tabid/80/forumid/3/view/topic/postid/129/afsort/DESC/Default.aspx) I'd like to suggest cutting the text of the discussion portion that's in the book content (where it begins with "Quote from above:") and then copy/paste it into this Discussion forum under a new topic with Subject: Comments on 'We Elect The Boss.' Besides eliminating confusion, it would also help ensure those comments are archived here for community reference/discussion. |

Mel,
I would go ahead and move the text. By doing so, you could illustrate a citation method for linking inbetween the wiki text and the discussions related to it.
Using the rich text editor, you should be able to insert a link to the discussion directly. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask.
As long as you document the movement that you are making (ie. "The discussion for this text was moved to..."), then I don't see any problem in doing a little house cleaning.
cheers, joe |

I tried the 'Discuss' link in the top right corner of the text box, but that does not take me to http://www.wearesmarter.org/communitytools/discussthebook/tabid/80/view/topics/forumid/22/Default.aspx. Perhaps this link could be fixed. Thanks, Joe E. |

Hi Joe. Understandable. This was the subject of a related thread under Forums / General Community Discussions / General Site Discussions / Conventions. I wish I can paste the link here directly, but there doesn't seem to be any permalinks available for discussion posts. And, what I'm discovering is that if I simply copy/paste the URL shortcut, subsequent navigation attempts using that shortcut doesn't get you to the thread. By way of this post, I'm asking if the Community Manager can help address the following: a. Activating permalinks for discussion thread postings; b. Linking the Discussion tab for each wiki to the appropriate Discussion Forum. c. Linking the Contacts tab for each wiki to the appropriate Discussion Forum. In the meanwhile, for Joe E., those comments that were formerly embedded in the wiki book content for Chapter 10 have now been replaced with a cross-reference to the Discussion Forum thread at: Forums / Book Wiki / Chapter 10.../ Feedback on "We Elect the Boss". |

Guys,
have these moves done something to upset email notices? I have not received any in the last day or so, yet much has happened! |

Do you mean e-mail notices from discussion forum threads? Or from wiki changes? If from discussion threads, it seems to be working okay for me. But, only if I select the checkbox that says "Check this if you would like to be notified..." If for the wiki. I'd actually be interested in that feature myself. I'm not aware that such a feature exists. The only way I get wiki updates is by clicking the "Recent Changes" link on the wiki. Perhaps our Community Manager can pipe in? |
