Hello My name is Donna Young and I am the treasurer and also a bailbond underwriter for Bail USA, Inc. Currently, we write approximately 25% of surety bail in the USA. One bad day, that’s all it takes to land in jail. Who in this world hasn’t had at least one bad day? Surety bail provides an invaluable service not only to the defendant but also to the criminal justice system for it insures the defendant’s appearance in court. Some peoples’ bad days are way more troublesome then others. Why? Perhaps it all stems back to the community they have become a part of and formed a relationship with. I wrote an article for which I didn’t know where it belonged. I entitled it YOU = I and put it under “Edit the Chapter Outline.” Although this article doesn’t address the growing jail community it does address the community I live in. The community where the roots of the steel industry, still a growing and prosperous industry, was planted. The same community where years later was the first distressed city of Pennsylvania. Why? One bad day, that’s all it took. A hostile takeover, a group of “me(s)” forming a superpower called “we” that’s all it took. The mill was blasted away. Most of the people fled away. However, the roots, a condition of belonging, still remain. Peoples’ bad days are leading to jail overcrowding and creating communities in distress. You and I have to stop this from happening. WE CAN and ARE smarter than allowing these kinds of communities to grow and WE MUST create one world community that is addicted to people, not $$$$ or possessions. Enjoy your day! Donna |
