| I think we need to ask people for their email address twice, to ensure that we have the correct address (the way many websites do today). Otherwise, the login process looks very simple, which is critical for maximizing the participation from our authors. |

Jon - I agree. We should consider grabbing a few demographics from them too. I'm thinking these:
Town State Title Company Specialty (drop-down): marketing, finance, management, etc. Referral (drop-down): Pearson, MIT, Wharton Exec Ed, K@W, etc. |

| Fine with me, as long as we make it clear that these are optional pieces of information. I also would focus on company name and areas of expertise, not so much geography (perhaps simply ask country) |

i'm also wondering if we need to have people confirm their email address? once they register and receive the message from the site, they are placed in a holding area until they confirm that they actually use/own that email address. a lot of communities use have this functionality in place to make sure people are who they say they are.

| I think a confirming email (which requires a response to activate the account) would be a good way to proceed, as long as we keep the whole process very simple. |

| jon - is there any other information you want to capture as part of their sign in which will populate our 'expert finder' (e.g. social networking) tool that will help you achieve your vision of leveraging wharton to provide expert advice? |

| V2 of login looks much improved, and its tight integration with user profiles is great. I wonder if you can make some of the fields, such as address and phone, optional during registration so that the number of fields does not discourage people. If not, I still think registration is relatively painless. |

| What do you think about adding students? Undergrad, grad...? University Affiliation? |

We are particularly interested in having students participate in thie project. There are several faculty members at The Wharton School who are exploring ways to engage their students, and if professors and their students (or just the students) want to participate they are welcome. The discussion about the login requirements was not to suggest that we only want certain types of people to participate in the project. Instead, we were simply discussing what information would be required for registration, and what information would be optional. - Jon Spector |
