The first paragraph currently reads "The central premise of the We Are Smarter Than Me community is that large groups of people ("We") can, and should, take responsibility for traditional business functions that are currently performed by companies, industries and experts ("Me").

I think "companies, industries" should be replaced by managers, departments". It makes things more focused.

The reason I don't like the reference to companies is because in almost all cases the company is the community, not the expert. I can't think of many (or even any) cases in a traditional management model where an entire company makes a decision. It's always a subset of a company - an executive, a team, or a large team perhaps - that makes a decision. Having an entire company help to make a decision (the way Motorola did when they set up a betting market to predict sales) is leveraging the pwoer of the community - in this case, the community being the entire company.

So - when we say that community will replace the experts, we shouldn't call companies (or industries) experts - they're on the other side, they are the communities.

Does this make sense?
